Christian Education and Sunday School

Christian Education Opportunities at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church

Our mission at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church is to preach and teach to our community and to the world God’s special message of salvation. His message is summed up beautifully in the following scripture verse from the Bible:

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16 – NIV)

So what does this message mean to us?

Our Christian Education program is designed to help you to discover and understand the answer to that question. We want to help you learn about God the Father who cares for us, His Son Jesus who is our friend and Savior, and the Holy Spirit who brings us to faith and who helps us believe in Jesus.

So we provide a number of opportunities for everyone of any age to learn about God’s special message to us….

Sunday School

Sunday School at Salem is a place where children and youth from 3 years of age through high-school can find a safe, welcoming, and fun learning environment to learn about Jesus and the wonderful work He did for us!

Children in our pre-school, kindergarten, and younger grades learn that we are all children of God and that God sent Jesus to be our personal friend and Savior. The children are introduced to Jesus through Bible stories, songs, and activities.

As the children grow up and grow in their faith they dig a little deeper in God’s Word as it is presented to us in the Bible. They hear the Word and it strengthens and nourishes their faith.

When they enter middle school and junior high, we begin to provide them with more Bible-centered topical studies.

We offer high-schoolers their own Sunday School class where the students study God’s word and learn to apply it in their daily Christian life.

Our normal Sunday School program year runs from September through May.

Check our Bible Studies page for information about the current Bible Study topic we are offering on Sunday Mornings.

Our normal Sunday Morning Adult Bible Study program year runs from September through May.

Confirmation Classes

In addition to Sunday School classes for middle/junior high schoolers, Salem provides youth with the opportunity to attend a two-year program of study that can lead to confirmation as communicant members of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS). These Pastor-led confirmation classes provide a deep and thorough study of Bible scriptures and doctrine that give the students a full understanding of the Christian faith.

For Adults who are seeking to become communicant members of the WELS, we are happy to provide a faster-paced, adult-level instruction covering the same scriptural and doctrinal material as our youth Confirmation classes.

Contact us for more information on our confirmation classes.
